Ruff around the edges

SKETCHES! Dog Face, E4, 10.00pm

Dog FaceSometimes we think it's almost as if people don't want us to write about their programmes. Take Dog Face, for example: we happened to catch it on E4 last week, while we were sort of half-doing something else, but what we saw of it we deemed reasonably funny, and we made a mental note to perhaps mention it in a future update. And now that time has come, and can we find any information about it on the internets? Can we buggery.

It does appear to have limped onto the screens with little fanfare (unless there was some kind of massive marketing push that we slept through, or something), particularly compared to, say, Fonejacker (which we still haven't warmed to, despite our best efforts), which is usually a bit of cause for concern. After all, if a show is good, the channel will want you to watch it, yes? If they're not drawing your attention to it at all...well, that rather makes you wonder how they really feel about it.

Anyway, the gist of things is that sketch shows are hit and miss at the best of times, but this did make us laugh last week, which merits it a mention. It's from the makers of Peep Show, which means that you'll recognise a fair few members of the cast, and when it's on form, it has shades of Smack the Pony-type inspiration about it, which is one of the highest compliments that we can afford a sketch show. We reckon this one's worth a look, anyway, if you've got half an hour to spare.

(NB. That picture has nothing to do with the show, it is just quite literally a Dog Face that we found on the internet. We weren't kidding when we said there's just no information about this show that's readily available...)

About Us

According to Marxist theory, cultural forms such as opera, classical music and the literary works of Shakespeare all fall under the heading of high culture. Low culture refers to a wide variety of cultural themes that are characterised by their consumption by the masses. We might not be Marxists, but we do know we loved Footballers Wives. If you do too, you'll know what this is all about.
